PINGUINvolumns: Books as Artworks
PINGUINvolumns is dedicated to artist books conceived as works of art. Each edition is produced in close collaboration with the artist, crafted with the same care and precision as the artworks themselves. Limited in number, hand-finished, and often unique in detail, these books are designed to be collected, lived with, and treasured. More than publications, they are objects of rarity—an extension of the artist’s vision that offers collectors the chance to acquire a lasting, tangible piece of their practice.

Het Kasteel

Volume I of “De trilogie der Tijden” by Ilan Weiss

Het Kasteel is not a book in the traditional sense — it is an artwork in the form of a book.
Limited to 30 hand-finished copies, each edition comes with its own certificate of authenticity, personally signed and dated by Ilan Weiss. Every copy also includes a unique photographic print made using his distinctive printing method, ensuring that no two are alike.

Every detail is conceived as part of the artwork: handwritten titles and texts, a sculptural protective cover assembled with magnets, plates, and wax seals, sewn binding in alternating navy and red, and a prologue sealed by hand. Each copy carries its own presence, becoming both collectible object and living fragment of the artist’s world.

Quetzalcoatl's Voyage: The Blood Codex

Drawings by Alexia Cruxifix, after Sangre de vida, sangre de muerte by Benny Weiss

A New Lens on Ancient Stories is a bold reimagining of fifteen foundational myths and historical narratives from the Bible, Sumerian epics, Celtic lore, Viking sagas, and Mesoamerican legends. Blending logic, cross-cultural parallels, and speculative history, it challenges “official” versions shaped by power and conquest. From Eden’s expulsion to the Maya collapse, blood flows as a recurring motif—symbol of life, sacrifice, and transformation—linking distant worlds through shared human themes of curiosity, belief, and survival. This is not a book about debunking, but about rediscovering myths as mirrors of connection, inviting readers to see the ancient world not as isolated cultures, but as intertwined chapters of a common human story.
