Brussels talent, shining locally & worldwide

Together, we shine—at home and abroad.

PINGUINSPACE is a neutral, artist‑led hub that assembles Brussels’ most visionary creators under one roof—free from the constraints of commercial representation, gallery politics, or market‐driven compromises. From our base in the vibrant Dansaert district, we amplify their work across Europe and Latin America, turning local brilliance into a global conversation.

Our Vision

Brussels already hosts extraordinary artistic voices. Our mission is to amplify their impact—celebrating them in Belgium’s leading institutions and sharing their work with the wider world. We exist to:

  • Centralise talent in an open, conflict‑free space where painters, sculptors, photographers, performers and digital pioneers can experiment side‑by‑side.

  • Protect artistic autonomy by operating outside the interests of galleries, dealers, or private agendas.

  • Build international visibility through touring exhibitions, cross‑border residencies and strategic partnerships.

  • Foster solidarity within a curated cohort that shares skills, resources and a collective stage.

Our Model

  1. Selective Cohorts — Each year we invite a focused group of outstanding Brussels‑based artists after an open call reviewed by an independent jury.

  2. Shared Production & Project Space — Members access studios, equipment and a modular exhibition area that can morph from white cube to black box overnight.

  3. Curatorial Residencies & Mentorship — Visiting curators, writers and cultural producers work hands‑on with the cohort, refining concepts and opening networks.

  4. Flagship Exhibitions & International Showcases — Each cycle debuts at renowned Belgian institutions before traveling to partner venues across Europe via Creative Europe consortia, and onward to Mexico City and selected Latin‑American capitals through our Mexico hub.

  5. Documentation & Publishing — Each cycle culminates in a bilingual catalogue and digital archive, ensuring long‑term discoverability by collectors, critics and institutions worldwide.

The Neutral Advantage

Operating independently from commercial galleries allows us to:

  • Spotlight emerging excellence without market pressure.

  • Offer equal access to all chosen artists, whether represented or not.

  • Serve as a trusted connector between talent, institutions and collectors, free of commission‑driven bias.

Europe ⇄ Latin America

PINGUINSPACE builds cultural bridges:

  • Creative Europe Network — We co‑produce exhibitions and residencies with like‑minded organisations in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and beyond.

  • Mexico & The Americas — Our founder’s roots unlock residencies in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Oaxaca, linking Brussels cohorts to the thriving Latin‑American art scene.

By weaving these circuits, Brussels artists gain the visibility they deserve—and international audiences encounter fresh voices that challenge, provoke and inspire.

The PINGUIN SPACE Experience

It’s more than just art on display. PINGUIN Space Exhibitions is about nurturing artists through dedicated, personalized support, curating bold and vibrant exhibitions, and hosting immersive events that breathe life into contemporary art. Here, we transform creative visions into captivating experiences, connecting artists with audiences and sparking dynamic cultural conversations.

PINGUINspace Alive: Events That Ignite
Our events transcend the art on display, creating a dynamic space for connection and celebration. Each exhibition kicks off with a grand opening, drawing art lovers, collectors, and curious minds from Brussels and beyond, and wraps up with memorable closing events that honor the journey. This year, we’re amplifying the experience: every Sunday afternoon, PINGUINspace comes alive with live performances, concerts, and artist-led happenings—transforming exhibitions into immersive cultural gatherings. From thought-provoking artist talks to hands-on workshops, these events spark creativity, foster dialogue, and unite our community in the joy of contemporary art.
Artist Follow-Up for Exhibitions
At PINGUINspace, our artist follow-up for exhibitions is a hands-on, collaborative journey designed to elevate talent and bring visions to life. It starts with an in-depth dialogue—Ilan Weiss, Guillaume Byl, and a guest curator visit the artist’s studio to immerse themselves in their practice, questioning and refining their intent over a tailored preparation period of 1 to 4 months. We then provide robust production support, assisting with materials, logistics, and execution, while meeting every 1 to 4 weeks to adapt to the artist’s creative rhythm. Together, we co-craft the exhibition, mounting it in our Dansaert space to showcase their work at its peak. Beyond the walls, we amplify their reach with targeted communication, connecting them to galleries, curators, and collectors—ensuring their unique voice resonates within the art world and beyond.
Professional Documentation & Promotion
At PINGUINspace, we ensure every artist’s work is captured with precision and care. A professional photographer, using expertly curated lighting, documents each piece in stunning detail. From these, we craft high-quality PDFs blending evocative text and vivid images—powerful tools that promote both the exhibition and the artwork. These materials are shared widely with our extensive mailing list, reaching the press, collectors, curators, galleries, and a diverse community of art professionals and enthusiasts, amplifying the artist’s visibility and impact across the art world.

PINGUINspace: A Cultural Spotlight for Curious Travelers

Tucked away in the vibrant Dansaert district, PINGUINspace is more than an art space — it’s a warm, welcoming haven poised to become a unique stop for tourists craving an authentic dive into Brussels’ contemporary scene. Free to enter, visitors wander into a charming courtyard shared with the cozy Rrsoulklle restaurant, meeting local artists brimming with talent yet sidelined by the art world’s star-system — not for lack of means or status, but due to limited networks or unconventional paths. We believe this intimate setting speaks to a discerning traveler: curious retirees seeking cultural treasures and trend-savvy explorers hunting for genuine, offbeat discoveries. Our multilingual publications — crafted in French-Dutch, Spanish-English, and Italian-German — mirror Brussels’ global flair, offering a stunning guide to these overlooked creators. We’re eager to weave this vision into the city’s tourism tapestry, spotlighting an artistic pulse that deserves to shine.

Beyond the Exhibition: A Future of Artistic Growth

PINGUIN Publications: Immortalizing Artistic Vision
Once artists have exhibited at PINGUINspace, their journey with us can extend into print. Launching in 2025, PINGUIN Publications will create exclusive, high-quality artist books for those whose projects show exceptional editorial potential. European Partnerships: Expanding Creative Horizons
Our commitment to artists doesn’t end with their exhibition—it grows across borders. Starting this year, we’re building connections with European art organizations that share our passion for dialogue and innovation. These partnerships will weave our artists into international projects—exhibitions, residencies, and collaborations—offering them new platforms to shine, connect with diverse audiences, and deepen their presence in the global contemporary art scene.
PINGUIN Space Mexico: Bridging Continents
For artists seeking a transatlantic leap, PINGUIN Space Mexico opens a bold new chapter. Set to launch in the birthplace of founder Ilan Weiss, this venture will establish a dynamic link between Europe and Latin America.
